Society tends to separate its citizens into two catagories; the Have's and the Have Not's.
being penniless in a society that is squarely centered around dollars doesn't make any sense.
Money makes the world go round and if you're broke you are left out of the circle.
Their book says: "To him who Has, more will be given the same; but to him who has Not...even what little he has will be taken away from him."
